New SATURN Publication and Upcoming Events
Catch up on the SATURN project's 2024 activities and upcoming events!
Modelling Sound Particle Motion in Shallow Water
Our newest peer-reviewed publication for 2024 'Modelling Sound Particle Motion in Shallow Water' is now available to access through The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America. In this study, our SATURN partners from TNO Acoustics and Sonar and JASCO Applied Sciences aim to provide systematic verification of the applicability, implementation, and configuration of different models for underwater sound particle motion.

SATURN’s First Policy Brief
Our first project policy brief 'On the Need for Standardized Bioacoustical Terminology' is now available from our project website. In this policy brief, SATURN urgently recommends the adoption of existing international terminology standards and the development of standardized and agreed-upon terminology to facilitate effective communication, a pre-requisite for monitoring and mitigation efforts worldwide.

Final Report on Vessel URN Measurements
We are delighted to announce the availability of the SATURN project's 'Final Report on Vessel URN Measurements' which you can now download from our project website! This document, which was written and compiled by Roberto Yubero, Mohammad Ghasemi and Øystein Solheim Pettersen, is structured into two main parts that relate to field tests undertaken in November 2022 and March 2023 by our research partners at TSI -Técnicas y Servicios de Ingeniería S.L. and DNV respectively.
Drone footage showing how URN measurements were performed during the Las Palmas test campaign can be seen in the video above!
SATURN Project’s General Assembly in Cork, Ireland
We were delighted to have had the opportunity to meet with our project consortium at this year’s SATURN General Assembly which took place from the 5th-6th of March, at University College Cork, Ireland. This event was hosted and organised by our coordinating partners at MaREI, the SFI Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine Research and brought together nearly 40 researchers from across the project consortium to discuss the progress of our project to date, and to plan for the next 12 months.
